last Monday i went to Tengku Mahkota Ismail Sports School (formerly known as Sekolah Sukan Bandar Penawar) and it was a very educational trip for me as well as a tug of the heart seeing the very big and burly athletes over there.
so, this sports school consists of 18 types of sports being offered and you must be (at least) presenting your state in order to enroll into any sports school in Malaysia. as for the the pre-university student course offered, you must have 'presenting Malaysia' on your paper if you wish to study there. *dies*
basically we went there to get some information about the sports school system of administration and to get to know the daily routines of the athletes. the only formal interaction that we had with the athletes were during their prep class where we kinda talk to them and find out what's its like to be in the school running around all day long. pretty much i enjoy being the trainee teacher there because despite some of them being a naughty student, they respect teachers. they call me teacher, then cikgu, then suddenly changed to akak. i was like, yeahhh whatever, as long as you don't cross the line.
i'm very strict who dares cross the line later i rotan them you know? hahaha.
so as soon as we arrived, we were given some briefing and taken to our dormitory. afterwards we went sight seeing around the school and observe the athletes undergoing their daily practices and gathering the information about the particular sports from their respective coaches.
at the first sight, all of us thought that these people carrying those bummers are the next Malek Noor but it turns out that they are actually, get this, SPRINTERS! yeah, all they do is run like a bullet train on the track but who would ever thought that they have to be weightlifters too? the girls and boys don't have any differences much! they are all big and burly with rippling muscles here and there, i feel like i'mma dead meat if i cross line with them! *shiver*
this training is called lounging. build up the body strength.

these are the primary school gymnast. most of them have six pack.

so after watching all these dudes training, we were given the chance to communicate with them in which the teacher ask us to give some sorts of motivation or bla bla bla because we are teachers and we are the example here yaw! so, we enter their prep class to spook the hell out of them regarding the future but it turns out that we're the one being spook here because they are...exuding strength everywhere!

all in all, the trip was a great experience for me because i've gain so much in such a short time.
you know what?
never underestimate sports students. some of them are very good at additional mathematics which is like, a huge thing for the stupid me hahaha. and most of them have a dream job which is outside the sports field like engineers, accountants, pilot and all. i'm impressed by their thinking.
somehow, i feel very blessed that we have so many great athletes here, especially here in Johor! ahh my Johor i love youuu! i pray that they will be successful in their future undertakings.
psst, i want my children to be gymnast and rugby player hehehehe.
toodles!
