what is it with women who loves football?
a statement-like question which is highly potential in inflicting third degree insult to girls like me. since when does loving football takes the feminine side out of a woman? i have a pile of blouses, skirts and hijabs, a three-story shoe rack full with wedges and flats, a very pink Angel and a lot of make ups. still, i love football damn much!
although one might say that football is a game for men, i'd say we women have our own share among the supporters stand too. there's a saying that if a woman loves football, she must be a supporter of Manchester United. well hello typical people, Man Utd is a great team with great history of victories and great players. of course we want to support the winners, don't we? who support the losers? if woman join the bench for the sake of those pretty heads, i can say that most pretty heads are not in Man Utd. hello Becks and Cristiano?
i swear Giggs is old and smack face but he's a legend! a legend you know!
football is a passion which is capable of giving us the touch of entertainment in a sport. take Germany in World Cup 2006 for example.even though Ballack is one heck of a captain, i think Lahm and Podolski deserve more applause for helping Klose net the ball every time. i remember chanting the names during the game because i am such die hard fan of Germany. at least in 2006. but i was never a fan of Ballack. i mean, his hair keeps heading the ball off to the wrong direction! i don't know how many time i pray that he will get injured badly and whisked away from the game. so evil, Oddblogger!
to love football, one must first understand the mechanism of the beautiful game itself. a thorough understanding between all the players; defence, midfielder, forward, goalkeeper, are important in determining the outcome of the game. no coordination, you're out. besides the coach is not to be forgotten. i mean, the coach is like, the strategist in a war. i have always love watching Sir Alex Ferguson and Jose Maurinho take on each other on the field. they have a truly amusing character which reminds me of the war between Buckingham and Arthos in The Muskeeteer. its cruel yet beautiful at the same time. what is football? some kind of mythical legends, perhaps?
truly,the only position which remains a hotspot for solo contender is the goalkeeper. we all bite our nails in nervousness watching every great goalkeeper defending their own post. Cech, Buffon, Dida, Casillas, Kahn, are some of the greatest keeper in the world. their skills, agility, intuition, and spirit could really set the heart of the audience beat in the same line with a bullet train. i think, the important part in a football game is when the keeper is giving all his best to catch the ball kicked at the goal. i believe the roaring of the audience once the ball is saved beats the mane out of a lion all the time.
despite all the fresh new faces and talents, i still think that the best football scene is during the year 2006. i know its the World Cup and all but we can't help feeling excited over this once-every-four-years competition! people are so deep in football spirit, painting their faces with the flag of their team, with lots of merchandise available everywhere, and here in Malaysia, the mamaks is a hotspot starting from 2 am, filled with football supporters eager to watch their team play. the spirit is just too awesome to describe! i am forever supporting Brazil and Germany. besides, back in 2006, Kaka is still running around with AC Milan, Scholes still fight alongside Giggsy and Rooney in Old Trafford, and Ronaldinho is consider as the maestro of the game. i mean, 2006 is the time when football is truly the time when pure talent being pure talent. that is, until Real Madrid lure the greatest away with lucrative deals and benefits. i wonder why Cristiano and Kaka refuse to take some lesson from Becks and Ronaldo. every stars that shines always fade away once they join Real Madrid. Galacticos what?
sadly, some extremely excellent players like Filippo Inzaghi and Cafu never get the right kind of attention just because they decided to stay loyal with AC Milan. i've always love AC Milan, Manchester United and Werder Bremen. although i must say i dislike Bremen's choice of colour for their jersey. green, like frog. urgh.
