I say Samba!

Glory Glory Man United~

what is it with women who loves football?

a statement-like question which is highly potential in inflicting third degree insult to girls like me. since when does loving football takes the feminine side out of a woman? i have a pile of blouses, skirts and hijabs, a three-story shoe rack full with wedges and flats, a very pink Angel and a lot of make ups. still, i love football damn much!

although one might say that football is a game for men, i'd say we women have our own share among the supporters stand too. there's a saying that if a woman loves football, she must be a supporter of Manchester United. well hello typical people, Man Utd is a great team with great history of victories and great players. of course we want to support the winners, don't we? who support the losers? if woman join the bench for the sake of those pretty heads, i can say that most pretty heads are not in Man Utd. hello Becks and Cristiano?
i swear Giggs is old and smack face but he's a legend! a legend you know!

football is a passion which is capable of giving us the touch of entertainment in a sport. take Germany in World Cup 2006 for example.even though Ballack is one heck of a captain, i think Lahm and Podolski deserve more applause for helping Klose net the ball every time. i remember chanting the names during the game because i am such die hard fan of Germany. at least in 2006. but i was never a fan of Ballack. i mean, his hair keeps heading the ball off to the wrong direction! i don't know how many time i pray that he will get injured badly and whisked away from the game. so evil, Oddblogger!

to love football, one must first understand the mechanism of the beautiful game itself. a thorough understanding between all the players; defence, midfielder, forward, goalkeeper, are important in determining the outcome of the game. no coordination, you're out. besides the coach is not to be forgotten. i mean, the coach is like, the strategist in a war. i have always love watching Sir Alex Ferguson and Jose Maurinho take on each other on the field. they have a truly amusing character which reminds me of the war between Buckingham and Arthos in The Muskeeteer. its cruel yet beautiful at the same time. what is football? some kind of mythical legends, perhaps?

truly, the only position which remains a hotspot for solo contender is the goalkeeper. we all bite our nails in nervousness watching every great goalkeeper defending their own post. Cech, Buffon, Dida, Casillas, Kahn, are some of the greatest keeper in the world. their skills, agility, intuition, and spirit could really set the heart of the audience beat in the same line with a bullet train. i think, the important part in a football game is when the keeper is giving all his best to catch the ball kicked at the goal. i believe the roaring of the audience once the ball is saved beats the mane out of a lion all the time.

despite all the fresh new faces and talents, i still think that the best football scene is during the year 2006. i know its the World Cup and all but we can't help feeling excited over this once-every-four-years competition! people are so deep in football spirit, painting their faces with the flag of their team, with lots of merchandise available everywhere, and here in Malaysia, the mamaks is a hotspot starting from 2 am, filled with football supporters eager to watch their team play. the spirit is just too awesome to describe! i am forever supporting Brazil and Germany. besides, back in 2006, Kaka is still running around with AC Milan, Scholes still fight alongside Giggsy and Rooney in Old Trafford, and Ronaldinho is consider as the maestro of the game. i mean, 2006 is the time when football is truly the time when pure talent being pure talent. that is, until Real Madrid lure the greatest away with lucrative deals and benefits. i wonder why Cristiano and Kaka refuse to take some lesson from Becks and Ronaldo. every stars that shines always fade away once they join Real Madrid. Galacticos what?

sadly, some extremely excellent players like Filippo Inzaghi and Cafu never get the right kind of attention just because they decided to stay loyal with AC Milan. i've always love AC Milan, Manchester United and Werder Bremen. although i must say i dislike Bremen's choice of colour for their jersey. green, like frog. urgh.

talking about football makes me wanna rawr like a tiger!

so what's with women and football again, you said?
i'd say Samba!

kicking off.

Remembering 10 Suns

Why does the title sounds like an obituary? LOL.

It has been almost two years since I left Mr Anbalagan’s Literature in English classroom. It has been almost three years since I befriend my 10 Suns, the precious, talking non-stop bunch of teenagers who seems like some sort of ang moh playing mahjong, rattling on and on from the beginning of class up until the bell rang at two o’clock. Truly, there was never a minute of silence in that crazy class. Despite the supposedly  ‘Earth Hour’  warning that Mr Anba wrote in bold on the board, it’s like a sign that says, “Talk, you monkeys’. Even the juniors joined us and became monkeys too.

And hell, we talk like blundering idiots, gibbering this and that from Yenny’s gossip about Japanese pop star to Abel’s continuous sarcasm and Willie’s dirty jokes and ends with a Caleb ruling his empire of books somewhere in his wandering mind. To think that it was supposed to be a class where we learn the world of Shakespeare and Ray Bradbury, I’m just glad we didn’t fail our SPM because we never really paid attention to Mr Anba. Sorry, sir, but we monkeys are always so chatty hahaha.  We even exchanged answers during test despite your rotan and glare. hee

The only time when I’m not with my 10 Suns during all those Big L session was during my mid-term examination. At least the boys from High School and the girls from Convent had peers during the test. I was stuck at my school, the only Big L candidate among the Sastera Melayu girls. I was all alone back then. Half-way through answering Cinderella Girl, I kept thinking what the hell I’m doing at that moment. I need to be with my 10 Suns if I want to get an A in that test. The feeling was just too awkward and different, what with the others staring at me writing on and on, paper after paper, as if I’m some sorts of extraterrestrial that came buzzing out of nowhere and landed in that class. And yeah, I got a flat B. A quite good B grade for mid-term was enough to make me feel depressed for the next two month. Big L is a mind killer, seriously.

My 10 Suns, this name came from the poem that I wrote for them which is expected from the monkey poet, consisted of 10 ultra-hyperactive-loud mouth-English speakers-who-talk-nonstop.  There’s Yenny, the cute KAT-TUN ardent fan who constantly pissed off with Abel, the sarcasm-expert with orange braces, who chomp out dirty jokes with the drummer Willie, who later bash out Caleb as he got lost in his own world,  who gossips with Ah Chew the proud owner of Rusty the jumping poodle, Zoey the gentlest creature with kickapow sidekick, and Jemima the happy-go-lucky girl singing Little Kitty loudly. Apart from this cheerful lot, there were Dickson the sleepy head, Parames the silent observer and me, the eccentric food lover.  Oh, and Little Sun Sivaranjini, the other party always at loggerhead with Abel.

Of course, as there weren’t many people who actually took Big L, the whole class was packed up where juniors mixed with seniors and we became…..monkeys. Educated monkeys lolol.  There was bamboo ge ge Tay Jia Chyi, crochetter Alyshia, and pretty juniors who adore Justin Beiber a lot, and seniors too unapproachable to be known.  And of course, our big L saviour, Mr Anba, who’s notes saved the living guts out of us in our examination.

Three years on, everyone is in the process of becoming someone now. Yenny, Caleb, and Abel are lawyers-to-be, Jems, Willie,  and Zoey fighting STPM now, Ah Chew, Parames and Dickson striving in private colleges, and me, on my way to nag at students as an English teacher-to-be.  It was amazing how three years passed yet it feels like just yesterday when I step into the classroom, all shy and awkward,  meeting these beautiful people who gave me the sweetest memories of high school and the best friendship I’ve ever hope for. I am proud to say that we 2010 monkeys were the loudest, most chaotic, most crazy lot that had ever step in Mr Anba’s class. Our seniors were too cool, our juniors were too quiet.  And all of us scored well in SPM.  A- is a good score, Oddblogger, for someone who was unable to spit out her thoughts confidently in verbal but put it down pen to papers like a crazy typewriter.

2010 Big L winner, break a leg you monkeys!  ;D

English mumbling.

hi awesome.

I am often caught in surprise when people ask me to spare some tips on learning English. I would turn into a perplex entity floating around searching for the words to speak. Truly, I have no tips whatsoever to share since I consider myself as never really learn anything when it comes to English. Even if you ask me how the hell I get on with my studies, I would still say I don’t really study…..much.

Forgive me but perhaps my familiarity with the language since the early age really shoots me off track from the normal people in my family. Of course, my older brothers and younger sister is fluent in English but father always says this when comparing us “your brothers are good but you are the best”. There’s this kind of expectation and hopes on my shoulder when it come to English so I there’s not much that I can do except make sure that damn expectation hits the mark like a sniper hitting bulls eye.

What can I really tell about my experience with English language is that it has been with me all along. I learn English with my mom every night since kindergarten through books, books, books, and rigorous spelling exercises. Since I’m a dead lover for books and fantasy fiction, mom was more than happy to feed me with Enid Blyton’s books and I am jubilant to read everything and tell them back to any willing audience about the story, down to the last tiny details like a pro. That’s why I hate telling stories now because I will tell it in the most detail, hands waving here and there, mimicking actions, and eventually makes my audience laugh at my story telling style.

I just love reading  so I could really say that reading is the main concept or practice that I applied in learning English. I don’t know any other methods to learn English. That’s why I’m such a slowpoke in Grammar because all the rules and functions just send me in a daze from here to eternity! Since literature and social studies requires reading, its like a normal thing for me to do. Since I’m a smart reader, meaning I can digest what I read faster than my tummy growl for food, so its normal if I find reading to be quite a boring stuff to do lately. The last novel that I’ve read, The Reader,  took me only a day and a half to finish like wth with that man? I think my reading rate is going faster  and faster every time I put my eyes on lines.

Due to this somber transformation on my reading rates, I quit fictional novels and move on to other past time favourites;  politics, histories  and philosophies. It’s a whole new incredible journey discovering a whole lot of information which are facts and is justify by so many logical and rational critical analysis from real, professional people. When it comes to reading, I’m not choosy at all. I read everything that caught my eyes no matter what their stand is society are. Rightist, lefties, communist, pacifist, atheist, sexist, everything! If I can’t get them in the thick pages from books, the internet never fail me.

so, there's this undeniable connection between learning English and reading since most of my reading materials are English-based and requires higher focus due to their high level of vocabulary and complex sentence structure arrangement. besides, i always insist on pushing myself higher than anyone else in something that i'm good at. because i believe that if you're good at something, you should help others with your knowledge. how can i help others if i am still in this mediocre level?

simply said, grab a book and start reading if you want to master up the alien language, English.

toodles.

Narcissusmummbled : too bored wtf.

Amadeus.

Hi awesome.

Recently I watched the movie Amadeus starring Tom Hulce as the genius composer, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. It was an interesting story in the first place and is a must watch for those with swoony adoration for heart-melting family-oriented moral-overdose less-publicized movie fan, like me. In fact, if truth be told, some of the best movie I’ve ever watch was not of the cinema package. It comes from a wise choice of downloading and experimenting with the internet lol.

So, I’m sure you can find the synopsis of the movie from the internet, where, thanks to the great Wikipedia, you can afford to identify even the smallest details of the story on your own. What I would like to bring to your attention is the absolute devotion of the main couple, Wolfgang and his wife, Stanzie as played by Elizabeth Berridge, brilliantly portrayed the ideal romance in our dream.

It’s absolutely heartwarming to see such affectionate and loving couple who, despite marrying at a young age, could stay through everything together without any doubt of their love towards each other. As the wife of a genius yet playful, ignorant Mozart, Stanzie is willing to do anything to help her husband even to a point of forcing herself to be humiliated by the friend-sans-rival composer, Antonio Salieri.  Even though Mozart seems lack of maturity and qualification to be a head of the family with his party-loving ways, one could not help but sigh with yearning watching Stanzie comes to Mozart’s defense with no less than a good embrace and fierce protective attitude.

Even though at one point Stanzie left Mozart in his last few days on Earth, she came back in the end because of her love towards him that seems to find no solace in the hands of others but Mozart. Mozart, with his hyena-like laughter and spoilt brat attitude, is a loyal husband and never did he even once, cheated on his wife. He loves partying around but he would take his wife with him. He would greet his wife with endearment like my love, darling and such at all time. It seems like there’s nothing that could tear these two lovebirds apart, even after years of marriage. One could say that in the midst of tragedies that hit Mozart, his love life remains untouched and could be the one aspect of his life that blooms well until the end.

Watching the movie, one could not help but wish upon such charming relationship with one’s partner. if Stanzie could see the reckless Mozart as charming, why can’t we see our partner, who could very well be hundred times better off than Mozart, in a good light? A good point to ponder as a self reflection.

Simply said, Amadeus is a must watch for those who seeks some slap in the face regarding their love life, carrier, friendship,  humanity traits, and even serve as a good lesson to those who are tone deaf about music.

Toodles.
